US Fiscal Year Calculator

The US fiscal year calculator tells you which federal fiscal year any date falls in. It opens on today's date so you can see the current fiscal year at once, and you can enter any other date to check it.

The US federal fiscal year runs from 1 October to 30 September, and — unlike the year-spanning labels used elsewhere — it is named for the calendar year in which it ends. So FY2026 runs from 1 October 2025 to 30 September 2026. This is the year the federal government budgets and reports against; note that many US companies instead use the calendar year or their own fiscal year, so this calculator covers the federal definition.

For any date, the calculator shows the fiscal year label, its exact start and end dates, the quarter (federal Q1 is October–December), how many days into the year the date is, and how many days remain until 30 September. That is useful for government contracting, grant deadlines, budget tracking, and knowing which fiscal year spending falls in.

A date on or after 1 October belongs to the fiscal year ending the following September; a date from January to September belongs to the fiscal year ending that September. The calculator handles the boundary and the year-end naming for you, with timezone-safe maths so a date always returns the same fiscal year.
