Bank Working Days Calculator (India)

About This Calculator

The bank working days calculator for India counts the days on which banks and government offices are normally open between two dates. It starts from the full span of days, removes Saturdays and Sundays, and then removes India's public holidays that fall on a weekday — leaving the number of actual working days.

This is the figure that matters for cheque clearing, NEFT/RTGS and other bank settlement timelines, loan and government processing windows, and any "within N working days" commitment. Counting calendar days instead would overstate how quickly something clears, because banks pause on weekends and on a long list of festival holidays.

The holiday list is the pan-India set for 2026 to 2028: the three national holidays (Republic Day, Independence Day, Gandhi Jayanti) plus the major gazetted festivals whose dates move each year — Holi, Ram Navami, Ramzan Id and Bakrid, Muharram, Janmashtami, Dussehra, Diwali, Guru Nanak Jayanti — along with Good Friday and Christmas. A holiday that falls on a weekend is not deducted twice.

One important caveat: bank holidays in India are declared by the Reserve Bank of India and also vary by state, and a few festival dates can shift by a day on final moon-sighting. Treat this calculator as an accurate national baseline and confirm against your state's official RBI holiday list before relying on it for a critical deadline.

To use it, pick a start date and an end date and press Count working days. The general working days calculator for India uses the same holiday set with a broader framing, and business days between dates covers other countries.

How It Works

  1. Enter a start date.
  2. Enter an end date.
  3. Click “Count working days”.
  4. View the business days, with weekends and holidays removed.

Formula & Methodology

The result is worked out as follows:

Working days = all days − weekends − public holidays

Every day in the range, including both endpoints, is checked. Saturdays and Sundays are removed first, then Indian public holidays that fall on a weekday. A holiday already on a weekend is not counted twice, and the remainder is the bank/government working-day total.
