Once you enter it, knowing the exact date you reach it — with the years, months, and days remaining — helps you plan around pension income and the transition out of work. The total-days figure gives a finer view for tracking the countdown.

The date is your date of birth plus the pension age in whole years, with leap-day and month-end birthdays handled correctly. The time remaining is counted from today using real month lengths, so the breakdown is exact. The default is set to 66 as a common figure, but you should change it to the pension age that actually applies to you.
