Exact Age Calculator
About This Calculator
An exact age is not the same as a rounded one. Saying you are "thirty-something" or "almost forty" is fine in passing, but sometimes you need the real figure — the precise number of years, months, and days you have lived. This calculator gives you exactly that, computed to the day from your date of birth.
Precision matters more often than you might expect. Official forms sometimes ask for age in years and months rather than whole years. Parents record a young child's age in months and days because it changes so quickly. And anyone tracking a milestone — a landmark birthday, a wedding, a 10,000-day marker — wants the count to be accurate rather than approximate.
What makes an age exact is handling the calendar honestly. This tool uses the true length of every month rather than assuming a flat thirty days, and it accounts for leap years, so a 29 February birthday and dates at month ends are measured correctly. It also counts only complete units: you remain a given age right up until the day you turn one year older, never rounded up early.
Enter your date of birth and press Calculate age. The exact breakdown appears instantly — years, months, days, your total days alive, and the weekday you were born on — all computed privately in your browser. A future date of birth is rejected, since an age cannot be negative.
For a friendlier phrasing of the same question, the how old am I tool gives a conversational answer, while the age in years, months, and days calculator focuses on that three-part breakdown.
How It Works
- Enter your date of birth.
- Click “Calculate age”.
- Read your exact age in years, months, and days.
Formula & Methodology
The result is worked out as follows:
Age = complete years, then months, then days (from DOB to today)
The exact age is measured as complete years from your date of birth to today, then whole months, then remaining days, using real month lengths and month-end clamping so leap days and month-end dates are precise. The total-days value is the direct day count between the two dates.
