Next Birthday Countdown

The next birthday countdown tells you exactly how many days are left until your birthday. Enter your date of birth and it works out the date of your next birthday, how many days away it is, and which day of the week it falls on — along with the age you will be turning.

A countdown is the fun part of a birthday. It is perfect for building anticipation, planning a party or a trip, or just answering "how many more sleeps?" for an excited child. Because it also shows the weekday, you can tell at a glance whether this year's birthday lands on a weekend — which often makes all the difference to how you can celebrate.

The countdown rolls your birthday forward to its next occurrence from today, so once this year's birthday has passed it automatically points to next year. Leap-day birthdays are handled gracefully: a 29 February birthday counts to 28 February in common years and to the leap day itself when one comes around. If today happens to be your birthday, the calculator celebrates with you and shows the age you are turning rather than a countdown.
